Assembly 1

With help from Hannah we carried the big piece of ply wood with the back drawn on it and a piece of MDF 6mm into the workshop to cut out. We also cut out four legs and four pieces of wood to make a frame to which the legs would be screwed too. I thought this would be a good idea as it would strengthen the seat and add more weight to the bottom so it wouldn't tip backwards. Using plywood which is lighter helps to stop the chair being top heavy. This was a concern i had whilst designing and had to address it in the make.

Because the back is plywood it had to be strengthened. Two pieces of wood were screwed into place using a drill into the back of the chair. This added a lot of much needed strength to it. Also by doing this the MDF seat could be screwed into to same pieces of wood as the plywood isn't thick enough to fix the MDF too.

The pieces of wood i cut where then rounded off in the work shop using the sander to give a smooth safe edge to the chair.
